Jarrod Furgason, Vice President and Director of Commercial Services – East at First United Bank & Trust, is pleased to announce the addition of PW Shaffer as Commercial Relationship Manager, serving Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia.
PW’s responsibilities in this role will include building and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses while helping drive the success of the bank’s commercial banking efforts. He will advise clients on lending and financial strategies, coordinate transactions from initial discussions through closing, and lead a team-based approach to effectively manage client relationships and support account administration.
PW brings more than 19 years of banking experience to First United, having built a successful career serving businesses throughout Maryland and Northern Virginia. As a seasoned commercial and business banker, he has developed expertise in relationship management, financial analysis, budget planning, and strategic lending solutions. He works closely with business owners to identify opportunities for growth, improve cash flow, and develop customized financial strategies that support long-term success.

PW holds a Master of Business Administration from Frostburg State University, a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Arcadia University, and an associate degree from Frederick Community College. His commitment to professional growth is reflected in his completion of the Maryland Banking School leadership program and his participation in both Leadership Frederick County and Leadership Washington County. Active throughout the communities he serves, PW serves as a member and past board member of Key City Rotary, a board member for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce, and contributes to the Mental Health Association of Frederick County’s Finance Committee. His past community leadership roles include service with the Community Foundation of Frederick County, Maryland State Dental Association, and Brunswick Medical Center, where he served in several leadership capacities, including vice president.
