First United Bank & Trust is pleased to announce that Denise Greenbeck Hess, Deposit Services Relationship Manager, and Marissa Murphy, Information Security and Disaster Recover Officer, recently graduated from the Emerging Leaders Program through the Maryland Bankers Association.
The MBA Emerging Leaders Program helps rising banking professionals build leadership skills, expand their industry knowledge, and connect with peers and experienced leaders across Maryland. Participants gain valuable insights, networking opportunities, and hands-on exposure to key banking issues that help prepare them for future leadership roles.
Hess has worked with First United for more than 7 years, where she plays a key role in supporting Treasury Services by developing and expanding complex business relationships to drive deposit growth. As a Deposit Services Relationship Manager in Washington and Frederick counties in Maryland and the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, she helps to communicate features and benefits of bank products to existing and prospective customers.
In March, she was selected as a recipient of the 2026 ABA Emerging Leaders Scholarship and attended the American Bankers Association (ABA) Emerging Leaders Forum and Washington Summit in Washington, D.C.
Murphy has been with First United more than 4 years and previously worked as the Assistant Information Security and Disaster Recovery Officer. In her current role, she spearheads the corporation’s Information Security Policy and manages its cybersecurity initiative, as well as works to maintain the bank’s disaster recovery program. She coordinates with other departments to ensure the operating policies and procedures are followed to meet compliance.
With a degree in criminal justice and a master’s in homeland security, Murphy also has a CompTIA Security+ certification and is ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
“Investing in the development of our employees is one of the most important ways we invest in the future of our organization,” said Jason Rush, President and Chief Executive Officer at First United Bank & Trust. “Denise and Marissa have demonstrated exceptional talent, initiative, and leadership, and we are thrilled to see them recognized through the Maryland Bankers Association’s Emerging Leaders Program.”
