Oakland, MD — First United Bank & Trust welcomed golfers, sponsors, and community supporters to the Oakland Golf Club on Friday, July 10, 2026, for its 38th Annual Charity Golf Tournament, continuing a longstanding tradition of community giving through friendly competition.
Since its inception nearly four decades ago, the tournament has become one of Garrett County’s signature charitable events. Through the generosity of participants and sponsors, the annual outing has generated more than $800,000 in support of local nonprofit organizations, reflecting First United’s ongoing dedication to investing in the communities it serves.
The 2026 tournament – which raised $32,500 – brought together business leaders, community members, and golf enthusiasts for a day of camaraderie and philanthropy, all with the shared goal of making a difference across Garrett County. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the County United Way, helping fund programs and services that support local individuals and families.
“Watching this tournament grow over the years has been incredibly rewarding because its impact extends far beyond the golf course,” said Jason Rush, President and Chief Executive Officer of First United Bank & Trust. “Every sponsor, volunteer, and participant plays a role in helping local organizations continue their important work. The generosity we see year after year demonstrates how deeply people care about strengthening Garrett County, and we are grateful to be part of an event that creates lasting benefits throughout our community.”
Rush also recognized Janet Marsh, Marketing Operations Coordinator for First United Bank & Trust, for her longtime leadership of the tournament.
“I would also like to thank Janet for the outstanding work she does organizing this tournament each year,” Rush said. “For more than 25 years, she has been the driving force behind this event’s success, and her dedication and attention to detail help make it the longstanding community tradition it is today. We are incredibly grateful for all she does and the positive impact she continues to make through her efforts.”
The tournament also provides an opportunity for local organizations to highlight the positive outcomes made possible through charitable support.

As First United celebrates the 38th year of the tournament, the organization remains committed to fostering community involvement and creating opportunities that bring people together for a common cause.
First place (low gross) in this year’s tournament was First United Bank & Trust East, who won $600. First place (low net) was the Pillar Innovations, who also won $600. Congratulations to all the winners and a special thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, and participants.
