First United Sponsors 36th Annual Charity Golf Tournament
First United Bank & Trust was proud to sponsor the 36th Annual Charity Golf Tournament held at the Oakland Golf Club on Friday, July 12, 2024 while celebrating the 26th year of organizing this worthwhile event. This tournament has become a tradition and has raised over $700,000 for local charities. Participants enjoyed a challenging round of golf, and at the same time, raised needed funds to support numerous community projects. This year, the recipient of the tournament proceeds was the United Way of Garrett County, to which First United donated $ 47,500.
According to Carissa Rodeheaver, President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board, “The generosity of our community and associates is both admirable and heartwarming. Year after year, they donate their financial support and their time to raise valuable funding for the United Way of Garrett County. First United Bank & Trust is honored to host this tournament with the assistance of the United Way and our community partners. We thank all the golfers and those who support our efforts!”
This year, the recipient of the tournament proceeds was the United Way of Garrett County, to which First United donated $47,500.
Michele Walker, Executive Director of County United Way stated, “The generous contribution from the First United Bank & Trust Golf Tournament, as well as the support from the employees, sponsors, golfers, silent auction donors, and volunteers is definitely a hole-in-one for the United Way. The support received through the tournament ensures that United Way can continue making a meaningful difference in Garrett County. Many programs such as Meals on Wheel, Cindy’s Fund, Let’s Drive and Partners After School will continue to operate because of the generosity of those supporters of the tournament. United Way of Garrett County will also be able to continue to provide help to many families who are struggling with the costs of everyday items. We are beyond grateful for your support and we will continue to strive to make a positive impact in Garrett County!”
We would like to recognize the top winners of this year’s tournament. The first place (low gross) team was Sisler Lumber and were awarded $600. The first place (low net) team was Loose Cannons and they were also awarded $600. Congratulations to all the winners and a special appreciation to our sponsors, volunteers, and participants.
