Oakland, MD — First United Bank & Trust proudly teed off its 37th Annual Charity Golf Tournament on Friday, July 11, 2025, at the scenic Oakland Golf Club. As the event’s organizer, First United has helped turn this tournament into a cherished community tradition. Over nearly four decades, the event has raised an impressive $700,000+ for Garrett County charities — proving that a great day on the course can also make a powerful impact.
This year’s tournament combined friendly competition with heartfelt purpose, as golfers enjoyed a challenging round while supporting vital local causes. The 2025 proceeds — totaling $37,500 — were donated to the United Way of Garrett County, continuing First United’s commitment to strengthening the community it calls home.
“Each year, this tournament reminds us of the incredible power of community,” expressed Carissa Rodeheaver, First United President and Chief Executive Officer. “For 37 years, we’ve seen how a shared love of golf can unite people for a greater purpose. From the first tee to the final putt, our associates, partners, and golfers come together not just for the love of the game — but for the love of Garrett County. We’re proud to support the United Way and honored to help drive meaningful change through this long-standing tradition.”
“This year’s tournament was not only a beautifully organized event, it was also a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together with purpose,” said Michele Walker, Executive Director of County United Way. “The funds raised will directly support essential programs that help us reach families who are struggling with everyday needs. The commitment and teamwork of everyone involved with the tournament did not go unnoticed, and it’s clear that its success was a direct result of that careful planning and enthusiasm. Thank you to First United Bank & Trust and our community for a fantastic event! I’m already looking forward to next year.”
First place (low gross) in this year’s tournament was Team Morgan, who won $600. First place (low net) was the Ivkovich, Williams and Thorn Team, who also won $600. Congratulations to all the winners and a special thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers, and participants!
