First United has been an institution in Allegany County. It has helped grow small businesses and has supported our community through the good and the bad. Nearly a year ago when the Luke paper mill closed and the County mobilized state and local partners to set up a resource fair for the families affected, First United was there to help like they always do.

When I started Exclamation Labs, it was just me. I appreciate First United’s enduring community commitment, including all of the ways it supports Garrett College. First United has hosted their annual golf tournament to benefit United Way of Garrett County for many years, contributing to a quarter of the community fund. These dollars are vital to health, education, and financial stability programs that help the people of Garrett County each day. In addition, the corporation allows an opportunity for employees to give to United Way and matches those dollars to maximize the investment. We are eternally grateful, not only for the fundraising, but for the hundreds of volunteer hours the employees give through our events and requests for additional services that benefit children and families.
