First United Bank & Trust Annual Golf Tournament
Since 1988, First United has been participating or hosting an annual golf tournament in support of the communities we serve, through the United Way. This tournament has not only become a tradition but it has raised over $700,000 for Garrett County charities and projects. Participants enjoy receiving breakfast and lunch, a challenging round of golf, prizes and more!
The 37th Annual tournament was held on July 11, 2025 at the Oakland Golf Club.
The Golf Club at Oakland
The Golf Club at Oakland is located near our headquarters and just minutes from Deep Creek Lake. The Oakland Golf Club offers 18 holes of championship golf spanning 6,395 yards of beautiful scenery and rolling terrain. This course is enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels, making it the perfect venue for this event.

“Each year, this tournament reminds us of the incredible power of community. For 37 years, we’ve seen how a shared love of golf can unite people for a greater purpose. From the first tee to the final putt, our associates, partners, and golfers come together not just for the love of the game — but for the love of Garrett County. We’re proud to support the United Way and honored to help drive meaningful change through this long-standing tradition.”

Michele Walker, Executive Director of County United Way stated, “This year’s tournament was not only a beautifully organized event, it was also a powerful example of what happens when a community comes together with purpose. The funds raised will directly support essential programs that help us reach families who are struggling with everyday needs. The commitment and teamwork of everyone involved with the tournament did not go unnoticed, and it’s clear that its success was a direct result of that careful planning and enthusiasm. Thank you to First United Bank & Trust and our community for a fantastic event! I’m already looking forward to next year.”
