Robin E. Murray, Senior Vice President and Director of Retail Banking and Philip L. Rodeheaver, Market President for Allegany, Garrett and Mineral counties announce the promotion of Allen Shapiro to Vice President and Community Relationship Manager.

Allen joined First United in 1998 as a Customer Service Officer and later became the Community Office Manager in Grantsville in 2001.  He also served as a Business Development Officer for Allegany and Garrett Counties in Maryland and Mineral Counties in West Virginia.  In 2014, he accepted the position of Community Office Manager for our Tri-Towns office.  He is a graduate of Keyser High School and attended Potomac State College and Frostburg State University.  Allen is also an honor graduate of Maryland Banking School where he served as President.

Philip L. Rodeheaver commented, “Allen’s experience and in-depth understanding of the market place make him a tremendous asset to our team and our customers.  This promotion is well-deserved.”

Shapiro is very active in the community and has served as a council member for the Town of Grantsville and Keyser, where he also served as Mayor of Keyser.  Currently, he is the Treasurer for the Friends of Senator George Edwards.  He has also served as past President of the Grantsville Lions Club, past President & Treasurer for St. Ann Catholic Church and past advisory member of the Garrett County Economic Development Corporation. Allen has two children Jason and Stephanie and four grandchildren.  He resides in Westernport with his wife Sheila.
